APOCRYPHA(7) APOCRYPHA(7)

NAME
apocrypha -- texts outside the canon, kept on their own shelf.

DESCRIPTION
These are witnesses, not canon. Each file opens with its provenance:
what it is, when it was found, whose translation, and why it sits on
this shelf instead of in /bible. Read them the way the tradition
read them at its best: tested, not banned; consulted, not obeyed.
"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they
are of God." (1 John 4:1)

FORMAT
Plain text, one verse or manuscript page per line, tab-separated
       reference. grep-friendly:

           curl -s jnous.com/apocrypha/1-enoch.txt | grep "89:2[4-7]"

CANON NOTE
1 Enoch and Jubilees are canon to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo
Church and to no one else; they head this shelf rather than /bible
so the seam stays visible. (The Ethiopian Bible as a whole has never
been fully translated into English.) The deuterocanon was printed in the 1611 KJV between the
testaments; when built, it stays here for the same reason.
